Sunny California

We drove into California and spent the night at the Joshua Tree National Park.  Our campground was surrounded by huge rock formations.  These rocks looked like they were sculpted out of clay and they looked animated.  If you saw these rocks anywhere else but here you would think they were fake.

The next morning we hiked through Hidden Valley-this was a valley that cattle rustlers used to hide stolen cattle back in the early part of the 1900s.

The Joshua Tree is not really a tree but a tall Yucca plant (which is a desert cactus).  This tree only grows in the Mojave Desert and at altitudes between 1300 and 5900 ft.  They look like Dr. Seuss created them.

Gated complex Palm Springs

South out of Joshua Tree we travelled through Palm Springs and Palm Desert.  We could live here (if we could afford it.)  We saw the PGA West Golf Club.  It was gated.  So were the high end hotels and survey complexes.  We stayed at a county campground that was very close to these surveys and there were horse lanes along the roads.  At our campground they put us in the equestrian section.  Our site had a horse paddock behind it.  We put Sid in it.

It is hot and sunny here.  Love it!
